Sonia leads IFA’s strategic direction, aligning policy, communications, partnerships, and operations to drive coherent, system-level impact on healthy ageing and longevity. She oversees organizational strategy and performance, ensuring that IFA’s global convening, knowledge, and advocacy functions are integrated and focused on enabling more equitable, resilient, and longevity-ready societies.  

A systems-oriented leader with cross-sector and international experience, Sonia designs and scales multi-sector initiatives that bridge policy, practice, and community. Her background spans international development and community-based work across health systems, poverty reduction, food security, housing, newcomer settlement, and women’s empowerment. She is known for her ability to connect diverse actors across sectors and geographies, translating complex challenges into collaborative strategies that advance integrated, person-centred approaches to wellbeing.  

Prior to joining IFA, Sonia served as Director of the Canadian Institute for Social Prescribing, a national collaboration hub anchored within the Canadian Red Cross, leading national efforts to connect research, policy, and practice in integrated care. She also led initiatives with primary health care teams in Ontario, including COVID-19 vaccine outreach efforts focused on equity and access. 

Known for her ability to connect vision with execution, Sonia leads initiatives that align diverse stakeholders, strengthen systems, and translate strategy into tangible outcomes. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering from McMaster University and a Master of Theological Studies in Urban and International Development from the University of Toronto.
