Workshop on Engaging in the WHO Global Standards for Long-term Care Consultation
Help shape the future of long-term care!
The World Health Organization has developed draft Global Standards for Long-term Care — an important opportunity to strengthen accessible, equitable, person-centred and high-quality long-term care systems around the world.
The success and relevance of these standards will depend on meaningful engagement from a diverse range of stakeholders, including older persons, caregivers, civil society organisations, providers, workforce representatives and community organisations. Sharing lived experience, expertise and understanding of local contexts will help ensure the standards are practical, relevant and responsive to the realities of long-term care.
The International Federation on Ageing is hosting a virtual workshop to support our network and members in understanding the draft standards and engaging meaningfully in the WHO consultation.
The workshop will:
- Explore the key domains and recommendations in the draft standards
- Provide an opportunity for dialogue with WHO technical experts
- Provide initial feedback on the draft standards
- Share practical approaches for consulting older persons, caregivers, providers, workforce representatives and communities
- Help organisations plan consultations within their own networks and communities
- Identify opportunities to bring diverse perspectives into the WHO consultation
Meaningful stakeholder engagement is essential to ensuring the final standards reflect lived experience, implementation realities and the diverse contexts in which long-term care is delivered.
