About the World Summit on Social Development
The United Nations General Assembly, through its resolutions 78/261 and 78/318, decided to convene the “World Social Summit” in 2025, under the title “the Second World Summit for Social Development” to be held in Doha, Qatar from 4-6 November.
The Summit will convene heads of State or Government, along with other leaders and CSOs, to address gaps and recommit to the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and the Programme of Action and its implementation and give momentum towards the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
Advancing Healthy Ageing as a Cornerstone of Social Development
As populations age at unprecedented rates, the global community faces a decisive moment: will we adapt policies and systems to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to age with dignity, health, and voice, or risk leaving millions behind? Our work demonstrates that investing in healthy ageing strengthens entire societies, from resilient health systems and inclusive labour markets to sustainable urban development and intergenerational solidarity. The ageing agenda must be a core component of the sustainable development agenda.

- Self assessment of falls risk and advice website:
- Falls Assistant – An online resource to help you identify if you have risk factors for falls that you can change over time. Introduction to the main risk factors, exercise advice and an action plan you can develop and print.

- A FREE to download DIARY (for 2025) that has exercises you can do at home and advice on keeping active, whilst also keeping those important dates like birthdays etc. You download it from here, and then click the link that says Click for a FREE PDF of our 2025 Calendar.
- Make Movement Your Mission
- Free 15 minute movement ‘snacks’ online. Either LIVE on Facebook each day at (GMT) 8am, 12 noon and 4pm (the 4pm one is 11am in Toronto and 8am in Vancouver) – go to Facebook and search for MAKE MOVEMENT YOUR MISSION and then join (free). Or you can view past snacks online on YOUTUBE
- STAY STEADY Video
- Good introductory video to the sorts of exercises that help reduce risk of falls.
- BONE MATTERS video
- This is a video produced by the Royal Osteoporosis Society aimed at the public and discusses bone health and falls and things you can do to help reduce your risk. 4 clinical and academic experts chat it through with you.
- STAY ACTIVE AT HOME Video
- From the UKS Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, this video takes you through some of the exercises shown, over time, to reduce risk of falls. Ideally over time you need to increase the load or repetitions and reduce the holding on to support so that the body continues to get stronger and your balance improves.
- APPS to support you exercising at home
- KOKU – Keep On Keep Up – you need a TABLET (apple or android) to download this app. A video on how to download and how to use this app is available here. (currently free)
- OTAGO EXERCISE PROGRAMME – In Canada you can download it from here (no longer available in most other regions)
