Mr. Justin Derbyshire

Justin Derbyshire is an experienced global leader in ageing, health and social justice. He is currently Chief Executive of Haven House Children’s Hospice in London, having previously served as Chief Executive of HelpAge International from 2017 to 2023. At HelpAge, he led a major strategic and cultural transformation. Under his leadership, HelpAge strengthened its influence with the UN, WHO, G20 and national governments on long-term care, social protection and the rights of older people. He secured record income of £41 million, increased reserves and built strategic, multi-year funding partnerships with governments and multilateral agencies.

Justin has just completed an Executive MBA at Warwick Business School, focusing on sustainable leadership and system transformation. Justin brings a collaborative but outcome-focused leadership approach, combining financial discipline, strategic foresight and a deep commitment to the dignity and rights of older people.

Before joining HelpAge, Justin held senior roles at Save the Children UK, including Head of East Africa and Global Risk & Compliance Manager, overseeing multi-country humanitarian and development programmes and government partnerships.

He has spoken at the IFA Global Conferences in 2018 and 2021 and has worked closely with IFA, WHO, UNFPA and national governments to advance the global ageing agenda. He currently serves as a trustee of Refuge and Restless Development, chairing remuneration and business committees.
