BIOGRAPHY

Dra. María Eugenia Jiménez Corona is a Surgeon at the Faculty of Medicine of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She has a Master's and PhD in Epidemiology (UNAM), a Diplomate in Vaccinology at the Pasteur Institute, Paris France, and a Latin American Diploma in Vaccinology (UNAM). Dra. Corona belongs to the National System of Researchers (Level 2) since 2004. She has served as Head of Department in the General Directorate of Epidemiology, and in the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition Salvador Zubirán, Researcher in Medical Sciences at the National Institute of Public Health, Director of Research at CONAMED and Head of the Research Area at BIRMEX. She has articles published in national and international journals, has presented more than 90 papers in national and international academic forums, has 7 chapters of books published and 3 in press, on topics of Epidemiology and Research Methodology. She has obtained funding as principal investigator and co-investigator (ICYTDF, CONACyT, WHO). She has been a tutor of undergraduate and graduate students, with 12 students graduated of specialty and masters. She has been an undergraduate professor at the Faculty of Medicine, UNAM, and is currently professor and tutor of the Masters and Doctoral Program in Medical and Dental Health Sciences at UNAM. Dra. Corona has participated in the coordination of the Master's Degree in Health Sciences with concentration area in Vaccology in collaboration with BIRMEX-INSP. She has obtained several research awards, highlighting the Chiron Vaccines Award for Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases (2004), awarded by the International Society of Infectious Diseases. Since July 2013, Dra. María Eugenia Jiménez Corona serves as Deputy General Director of Epidemiology, Secretary of Health.
