Policy priorities for protecting adults at risk of severe illness from RSV

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a common cause of respiratory tract infection. The burden of disease is well known in children. However, RSV causes serious illness in older adults too. There is a need to better protect older adults and those with comorbid health conditions from RSV infection and severe illness.

IFA participated in the generation of a new report by the Health Policy Partnership to build awareness of the impact of RSV in adults and highlight opportunities to reduce its burden on society through appropriate prevention, diagnosis, and care.

The report identified five policy priorities for policymakers and health system leaders to improve RSV management and therefore prevent death and loss of function amongst older adults.
