Rodney Jilek
Dr Rodney Jilek is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Canberra and holds formal qualifications in nursing, health science, health administration, public health and gerontology. He holds a PhD in Gerontology studying the lived experience of men entering residential aged care and a Doctorate in Public Health after establishing the Community Home Model , a non-institutional model of community embedded, inclusive care for our elders. Rodney has actively contributed to the international ageing discourse for over 20 years.
In a 30 year career, Dr Jilek has held senior executive positions in a number of Australian aged care providers as well as the Department of Health and Ageing where he was engaged as a national clinical advisor. He is currently the Managing Director of Community Home Australia, a not for profit organisation delivering best practice dementia supports in the Australian Capital Territory and funds the Open the Doors 2023 Global Alliance, a group pf over 500 gerontological specialists supporting collaboration across aged care sectors around the world.
